Bridgegate

Chester's Walls form the most complete circuit of walls in Britain so that Chester is quite rightly renowned as 'The Walled City'. The walls are a scheduled ancient monument and form a remarkable 3km walk around the entire city.

Originally built as part of the Roman stronghold of Deva, the walls have been rebuilt over the years becoming a fashionable promenade during the Victorian Period.

Come and join one of our experienced guides who will take you on a tour of the walls, showing you all the highlights from the past 2000 years, including the Tower where King Charles stood to watch a Civil War battle, the famous Eastgate Clock built to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria and learn about the old Chester tradition of the 'Wishing Steps'.

The Chester Walls Walk runs every Saturday afternoon from May - October, departing from the official Visitor Information Centre at the Town Hall on Northgate Street at 2pm.

Tickets can be booked online, by calling 0845 647 7868 or can be purchased on the day at the Visitor Information Centre.

Tickets cost £6.00 per person and £5.00 for concessions.
