The Chester Antiques Fair

Guide Prices

Public Admission = £5

Chester’s famous Racecourse Pavilion is set to be transformed once again into a treasure trove of fine art and antiques, classic collector’s items, twentieth century designer pieces and interior furnishing essentials. The Chester Antiques Fair returns from 8 - 11 February, with more than forty specialist dealers and thousands of carefully selected art and artifacts going on sale.

Fine art from the 17th to the 21st century is also strongly represented providing collectors with a greater range of watercolours, oils and prints than they will find anywhere. From Manchester, Jo Bennett Originals offer works by Geoffrey Key and other collected northern painters including Trevor Grimshaw and John Thompson. Fans of the classic and contemporary fiction will enjoy the collection of Art of the Imagination who specialise in original oils and watercolour drawings commissioned to illustrate famous stories new and old.

The Fair also showcases fine English period furniture. W.R. Harvey from Witney offer a range of Georgian and Regency town and country pieces, including kitchen dressers, dining tables, sets of chairs and library furniture. Also showing furniture is C.S.Moreton and local Chester dealer Mike Melody with 18th and 19th century stock. Altrincham dealers Church Street Antiques offer a broad range of lavish period and later items including decorative standard lamps and mirrors. Mark Buckley Antiques specialises in late Victorian and Edwardian inlaid walnut furniture.

This famous fair takes place over three floors of Chester Racecourse’s famous County Grandstand, just a few minutes direct walk from the centre of the beautiful historic city full of tempting shops, restaurants and the entrancing walk round the Roman Walls.

With prices from less than £25 to more than £25,000, the fair offers plenty of choice both for stylish pieces for inspired home decoration and fine examples to enhance a private collection. All exhibits are labelled with their price, age and description and have been vetted for quality and authenticity.
