Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall

Let go of the summer: it’s time to curl up in front of the fire with a great literature festival. Ticket-selling for the Essar Oil Chester Literature Festival (14th-30th Oct) is in full swing – make sure you don’t miss out on all the fantastic goings-on by booking online now - use the red button above to instantly book tickets, or click the 'EVENTS' tab to choose your event and find out further information.

Whether you are a history buff, an advertising guru or a theatre lover, we guarantee there is something for you! From eating vegetables with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall to hacking through vegetation with Amazonian explorer Ed Stafford, you can experience life in all its variety through the magic of words. Other guests include Peter Snow, Bill Turnbull, Robert Powell, Wendy Cope, John Hegarty, Claire Tomalin and Tim Smit of the Eden Project.

Lunchtime events return this year, showcasing some of the best writing talent from Cheshire, both new and experienced. Performance Saturdays offer a melting-pot of scintillating poetry, hot debate and fun workshops. For junior bookworms, our children’s literature festival, GobbleDEEbook, returns for its second year during half term (24th-30th Oct) with quizzes, prizes and even a man who taught Harry Potter how to do magic! See www.gobbledeebook.co.uk for details
