Accessible Chester
More and more business, facilities and services now offer fully accessible services to people with access difficulties.
Wheelchair accessibility to the shops is good and it is possible to gain access to the famous 'Rows' from the shopping arcade in Eastgate Street.
For a complete guide to Accessible Chester - Disabled Holiday Information provide an excellent range of information and is designed to give visitors, whether they are wheelchair users or have other mobility issues, appropriate information to choose suitable accessible short breaks, holidays or days out, considering their disability and special needs.
Blue Badge Holders
Chester City Council has two parking areas dedicated to Blue Badge holders in Frodsham Street and Hamilton Place (four hour maximum stay). See a map of the car parks in Chester here.
In addition, Blue Badge Scheme holders may park free of charge for up to four hours on any City Council pay and display car park, with the exception of Trinity Street.
If you wish to stay longer than four hours, please purchase a pay and display ticket for the additional time and display the ticket next to your badge and clock.
Please ensure your badge and clock are clearly displayed in your vehicle.
Chester Park & Ride Service
Take the stress out of parking and avoid traffic by using the Chester Park & Ride service. The Park & Ride is an economic and environmentally friendly solution to travelling into the city for recreation or work. There are four Park & Ride sites around the Chester area, providing a total of 3170 parking spaces, which include designated disabled parking areas and additional parking for high sided vehicles/caravans/motor caravans.
The service runs every 10 minutes, subject to city centre traffic conditions. The buses are equipped with a low floor system for easy access and are particularly beneficial for our disabled passengers and parents with buggies. However, occasionally double deckers or other buses may be used temporarily at peak times or when buses require maintenance/servicing.
Cost
Car parking is free, and the return bus fare costs just under £2.00. Pay at machines so please have change ready and keep your tickets in a safe place. Accompanied children under 16 years travel FREE (max 2 per adult). Bus tickets are obtained from machines on the sites, and change machines are also available.
