deer park at tatton

Tatton Park is celebrated for its beautifully landscaped parkland. Its
present day appearance owes much to the contributions of a number
of landscape designers including Humphry Repton (1752-1818).
The parkland has been home to Red and Fallow deer since the 13th
century and is also home to rare breed Soay and St Kilda sheep.
The parkland includes two large meres (both designated SSSI,
Sites of Special Scientific Interest), woodland, ponds and rough
grassland, providing a diverse habitat for wildlife. It’s ideal for
exploring on foot or by bike and offers a variety of walks including a
fascinating Sound Walk, a Nature Trail and a Children’s Parkland
Explorer. Other activities include horse riding, fishing and sailing and
a new bird hide provides the perfect location for bird watching.
Tatton Park is also a great place to enjoy a picnic.
