Home / Chester Mystery Plays 2008
It’s not often that a play enjoys such success that it runs and runs. But Chester’s theatrical gem was first performed in the 1300s and continues to enjoy great success. You’ll only get to see it every five years though.
The next full-scale production of Chester’s famous medieval Mystery Plays takes place on Cathedral Green in the heart of historic Chester. This theatrical spectacular has changed a little over the years nut still appeals to all ages and is packed with drama, music and magical effects. Blending the sacred with the secular, the Mystery Plays tell iconic Bible stories from Creation with Adam and Eve through Christ’s life to the dramatic hell-fire of the last Judgement. It’s one of the largest community projects in the UK involving hundreds of people and is truly and “entertainment unlike any other”.
