Visitor Economy Membership

We maintain strong strategic relationships with the National
organisations VisitBritain and VisitEngland so that Cheshire does not
become disconnected from what are very fast moving changes.

The private sector support is very important to us and your
engagement helps us greatly as we strive to meet Cheshire’s
stretching economic targets of growing our visitor economy to £3
billion by 2020.

A sample of some of our strategic and operational Tourism activity for
2011/12 is highlighted below.

Additionally we will be developing a number of broader place
marketing initiatives and these will enhance and add to our Tourism
work.

• We are completely revamping our current websites to incorporate new visitor content and our wider remit and you will see the first signs of these changes during April.
• We will continue to develop new and exciting joint ventures partners such as New Mind, Glow, the Camping and Caravan Club and the Chamber of Commerce and all of these will open up opportunities for our members.
• We will develop our events and members meetings around subjectsthat you tell us are important for helping you grow your business.
• The Celebrate Cheshire event to be held in Chester on the 16th and 17th September will be a major showcase event for our sub region.
• Increase our share of the important day visitor market through the introduction of new and innovative campaigns working closely with Favourite Days Out.
• Continue to develop and deliver opportunities associated with our European Funded Gardens of Distinction and RDPE projects.
• A major focus on stimulating additional Conference opportunities. 
• Significant support for our Major Events programme.
• Continue to develop and enhance our current initiatives to improve the visitor welcome and provision of information particularly through social media channels. 
• Plan our strategy for maximising opportunities associated with 2012 and work closely with the major Tour Operators.
• Continue to provide high quality Destination Intelligence.
