Pubs
If you’re looking for somewhere to grab a drink while you’re in Chester and Cheshire, there are plenty of traditional watering holes to choose from, many of which serve pub food as well.
Our region’s pubs sell mainstream beers and lagers, as well as speciality ales, real ales and wines. The choice is endless.
If you fancy going somewhere with a bit of a modern twist for a drink, you could visit The Bouverie in Chester’s cosmopolitan creative garden quarter, a modern, contemporary pub that also sells great home-cooked food. Also in Chester, Telford’s Warehouse is perfectly located next to Chester canal basin and is a family-run freehouse and also a renowned music and arts venue.
If you’re looking for a more traditional watering hole out in the Cheshire countryside, why not pop in to the Queens Head Frodsham? Traditional food and décor is definitely the order of the day, with fresh local produce used in their menu and fine cask ales available at the bar.
The Chetwode Arms is a great county pub with a traditional feel. Located in Lower Whitley near Warrington, it boasts a cosy bar area and intimate dining, although booking may be required.
Slake your thirst at one of the region's microbreweries; the Beartown Brewery in Congleton offers a superb range of real ales as well as the opportunity to take a tour around the brewhouse and sampleroom. If you're still upright then you can also visit the Bollington Brewery Company, an award winning local brewery that brews over 18 different varieties of real ale - and is conveniently located next to a pub!
